FC Augsburg (14th)

At the moment, Augsburg seem to be the club who are most similar to Saints overall.

Firstly, a mixed season has them battling it out just above the Bundesliga relegation zone in 14th place – much like Saints will be doing should the 2019/20 Premier League campaign resume.

They are also situated in the South of Germany and have a stadium that has a similar capacity to St Mary’s. Like Saints, they have been in the top-flight of their football pyramid since promotion in the 2011/12 season.

Back in the summer, Kevin Danso made a loan switch from Augsburg and joined Saints on a season-long deal, meaning that the similarities and recent links between the two clubs are strong.
