Southampton: Victor Wanyama speaks about Saints and Sadio Mane
Wanyama, who use to play with Southampton, recently talked about his time at Southampton and about his secret pact with Sadio Mane.
The MLS Midfielder spoke fondly about his time with the club but particularly he spoke about his friendship with current Liverpool star, Sadio Mane.
He said that Mane was concerned that the rest of the team did not want to pass to him and did not want him to score so they made an agreement that they would pass to each other as often as they could.
Wanyama said he “reluctantly,” agreed with Mane because he was such a close friend and wanted to help him out as much as he could. Other than the Mane talk, he was very kind in his words about the club. I do not know if I necessarily believe what Mane was saying was true, he may have been using his closeness with Wanyama to ensure he got more touches in a match. If his teammates truly did not want to pass to Mane, that would be very surprising to me.
He talked about how much he loved being at Southampton and how it felt like one big family when he was there under Pochettino and how difficult it was for him to leave that environment.
We may never know the truth about the Sadio Mane comments and how true they were but it is good to see former players remembering their time with the club fondly and how much it meant to them when they were with the club.
