Southampton: Ralph Hasenhuttl reportedly agrees to a 4-year extension
It is being reported that the manager will sign a deal that will be announced tomorrow as major changes are to come this summer.
According to a new report from the Sun, the Austrian will be rewarded for his performance with a new contract that will see him at Southampton until the summer of 2024.
Southampton are technically not safe from relegation just yet, but the board has faith in the manager and believe even a top ten finish is still possible for the club. Looking forward after this season, they believe Hasenhuttl has a plan for the future and can succeed at the club.
There is a lot of question marks surrounding players like Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Ryan Bertrand, and Oriol Romeu. The season following this one could have a very different looking Saints team but if the board can back Hasenhuttl with the players he wants and they buy-into the system he has they can be successful.
Personally, I am very happy he is singing an extension and stay with the club. I think this could have only come about with how much the board backed him after the 9-0 defeat. They showed how much faith they had in him and that they believed he is the right man for the position.
It is only a matter of a few weeks now before we see the Saints playing football again and that will be a welcome sight. Be on the lookout for the official announcement tomorrow of the contract extension
