According to a new report, Celtic are quite hopeful they can land the Southampton goalkeeper who has played well in the Scottish league.

The one-time Southampton goalkeeper struggled to get any playing time towards the end of his time physically at the club. He was then loaned out to the Scottish Champions and found his form again and quickly become beloved by the supporters.

The club made it no secret their intent on keeper the goalkeeper at the club it has just boiled down to if they are willing to pay the price Southampton have slapped on the Englishman. With the Covid-19 Pandemic, financials for a lot of teams have been messed up and now Celtic hope they can get the player on loan again instead of paying a transfer fee this summer.

I know the Saints are looking to sell the player and bankroll the money into new players this summer but they may have to settle for just getting his hefty wage bill off the books for another season.

No one really knows what is going on with ownership and the transfer budget this upcoming summer so the club may have to take some discounts on players they were hoping to recoup the cost on.

I know some supporters were hoping that a return of Forster to the Southampton net would happen but that seems too far gone at this point. Moving forward we will have to rely on Gunn or McCarthy to keep the ball out of the back of the net.

In just about two weeks’ time we will see who will be the number 1 for likely the remainder of the season.
