Southampton: Four high-earners Saints are looking to move this summer
The Southampton books are filled with players who are out on-loan and need to be sold this summer to make room for new signings.
The four players Southampton are looking to get rid of should come as no surprise to supporters. They are Guido Carillo, Wesley Hoedt, Mario Lemina, and Mohamed Elyounoussi who are all on contract at least through the 2021 season.
These four players were bought under different managers and it is no surprise they quickly lost favor with Hasenhuttl. Carillo and Elyounoussi were major disappointments on the offensive side of the ball scoring a grand total of zero goals for the club combined.
Hoedt, started a good bit in the back under Mark Hughes but his play was plagued with mental mistakes that cost the team dearly and it was something Hasenhuttl had no patience for. Finally, Lemina is a class player, but only when he wants to be and his attitude just did not work with the team.
It is likely the club will have to settle for prices below what they would hope to get for these players as the clubs who want them know the Saints are actively shopping them and additionally they may not have the money to meet Southampton’s demands.
I believe it is time to just accept our losses, get some money back, and get the players wages off of our bill. They were mistakes made from former managers but it is something we will suffer from but hopefully also learn to be more careful with our purchases in the future.
Hopefully we see these players move soon and can allow Ralph to bring in players he prefers.
