Southampton stepped up their preparations for the restart of the 2019/20 season by playing a friendly against Bristol City on Friday.

Saints managed to claim a 3-2 victory in a game that was played in three separate 45 periods and saw three different line-ups used by Ralph Hasenhuttl.

The scoring in the contest was complete before the first 45 minutes was over – Stuart Armstrong’s double and another strike from Danny Ings eventually claiming the win for the hosts at St Mary’s.

With Saints back in action this coming Friday when they meet Norwich City in the Premier League, the friendly match with Bristol City could have provided a few hints as to what is to come.
