Prowsey takes the captain’s armband

Via Saints’ own picture gallery from the game, we can see that normal team captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg did not have the armband.

James Ward-Prowse – who was on the pitch at the same time as Hojbjerg – was given the responsibilities to lead the team.

Given Hojbjerg’s contract situation and the fact that Ralph Hasenhuttl has said that the Dane won’t be captain if he’s still part of the squad next season, is this something that will be seen more in the future.

Ward-Prowse is the natural successor to the armband given how important he has become to the team and how he knows what the club is all about having come through the youth system.

There are other candidates who could emerge as leaders for the team but it does look like Prowsey may be the man.
