Norwich City 0-2 Saints, League One, 2009/10

Norwich were top of League One as Saints headed to Carrow Road for this match, but it was Alan Pardew’s visitors who went on to show just how dangerous they could be.

Striker Lee Barnard netted a well-taken brace to shock the league leaders and the win meant that Saints had lost only one of their last 10 games in all competitions.

The Canaries went on to secure promotion to the Championship as league champions whilst Saints only narrowly miss out on the play-offs after starting the season with minus-10 points.

The campaign – and indeed Alan Pardew’s tenure as manager – ended positively with a win at Wembley in the Johnstone’s Paint trophy final.
