Strikers and Substitutes
Danny Ings, Striker – 8
First intervention from Ings was a defensive one, clearing a would-be Canary strike at the back post. Nearly created himself a chance at midfield winning good pressure and driving the ball 40 yards forward before getting his opportunity blocked. Jack Stephens set him up in the 34th minute and one has to wonder if it were 3 months ago, if the ball would have hit the net and not the bar. Took his next opportunity with class, scoring number 16 on the Premier League season. Added an assist and a yellow card to his statistics before giving Nathan Tella a short chance to shine.
Michael Obafemi, Striker – 6
Obafemi was handed the start in place on an injured Shane Long, proving he is still the third Striker in line, in front of Che Adams. Started the game with good energy, forcing Norwich goalkeeper Tim Krull to play uncomfortably out of the back. Touch was off at times, but showed some good hold up play when his team needed it. Missed Ings running forward on more than one occasion, but did find Redmond for the 3rd and final goal.
Che Adams, Substitute Striker – N/A
Entered in the 80th minute for Michael Obafemi. Got a few touches on the ball, but many will be clamoring for him to start next to Ings if Shane Long is out again Thursday.
Will Smallbone, Substitute Attacking-Midfielder – N/A
Entered in the 80th minute as part of a double switch for Stuart Armstrong. Looks like the ideal backup to Armstrong and had a couple shots in his few minutes on the pitch.
Nathan Tella, Substitute Striker – N/A
Tella received an opportunity in place of Danny Ings, entering in the 88th minute.
Sofiane Boufal, Substitute Attacking-Midfielder – N/A
Boufal made a very late cameo in place of star Nathan Redmond.
Kyle Walker-Peters, Substitute Right-Back, N/A
A late add-on in a double switch for Yan Valery.
