Midfielders

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Centre-Midfielder – 4

Slow on the ball today and needs to be held at fault for the first goal.  Saints won possession, he went back to Bednarek, demanded the ball again from 6 yards, just to play another flat pass back to Bednarek.  To make matters worse, he sent our centre-back Jack Stephens out for three games due to a second errant back pass sealing the Arsenal win.  This is exactly what happens when the mindset and commitment of a player is lost.

James Ward-Prowse, Centre-Midfielder  – 6

A relatively quiet, but workmanlike first half.  Given a great opportunity to drive the ball on net in the 51st minute, but skied it over the goal.  Looked a little leggy in this one, but it would be hard to bet against him going 90 again at Watford.

Nathan Redmond, Attacking-Midfielder – 6

A very timid first half considering his play on Friday.  Combined well with Bertrand, but what happened to the attack from the dribble?  An entirely frustrating performance after the stellar showing at Norwich.  Smashed his only chance into the side net.

Stuart Armstrong, Attacking-Midfielder – 7

Not nearly as involved as he was against Norwich.  When he picked up the ball he showed flashes, but his touches were way down throughout the match.  Could be the most consistent playmaker behind Ings right now, and the team needs him.
