Southampton: Mohamed Elyounoussi re-sings with Celtic on-loan
It was announced today that the Southampton winger will spend the next season in Scotland with the reigning Scottish champions.
This move has been rumoured to be happening for some time now and it has finally come to fruition on Tuesday evening. Elyounoussi, made 20 appearances for the Scottish club before he injured his foot and the Covid pandemic struck.
Celtic, had made it clear they wanted to sign the winger (as well as Forster) and look like they may be able to get them both again. There are rumours that Forster may get another shot at Southampton but it is likely just that, a rumour.
Southampton, would have probably preferred to have sold the player outright and use the money they received to purchase another player but one has to assume they will be receiving some sort of compensation for the loan deal.
It seems like with each passing week, and the improvement of the team, that Elyounoussi will not have a spot on the team so it is the best move for both the player and the club for him to move on. He found succession in the Scottish league and hopefully he continues to do so and can regain his spot on the national team.
Now, the focus with Celtic will be on Forster and if they can lure the keeper to the club for another season or if Southampton will bring him back and give him a shot at being the starter again.
Saints, will take on Man City this weekend and we will be bring you all the coverage for that game and any transfer news.
