Southampton claimed the share of the spoils that they warranted on Monday after a battling display against Manchester United.

An entertaining contest saw two in-form teams going for the win, and Saints struck early on through Stuart Armstrong after a strong opening spell.

United fought back though and were 2-1 ahead by half-time after strikes from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

Michael Obafemi was the somewhat unlikely hero late on for Saints though when he stole in at the far post to bundle home a corner and secure his side their 11th point since the Premier League restart last month.

The performances that Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side have put in since returning will have Saints fans wondering just how far they can look up the league for next season.
