Southampton stun Manchester United as Michael Obafemi nets a dramatic late equalizer.

Over the years Old Trafford has been no stranger to a late goal or two. Known as Fergie Time, injury time busting strikes has broken many a team’s hearts through the decades.

However, six minutes into five minutes added time it was the Theatre of Dreams’ turn to feel last gasp disappointment. Obafemi proved to be the master of United’s downfall, but the equalizer was hardly out of the blue or undeserved.

Southampton started brightly, happy to push and press United in the hopes of causing a mistake or two.

With just over 10 minutes on the clock Saints opened the scoring. Danny Ings dispossessed Paul Pogba of the ball. Possession found its way to Nathan Redmond, who delivers an excellent cross to a waiting Stuart Armstrong.

The build-up is reminiscent of Southampton’s winner against last Sunday’s opponents Manchester city. The goal comes as a result of not only an opposition player turning towards trouble, but also SFC’s determined pressing.

The Devils soon found their way back into the contest as Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial ripped through the visitors to give the hosts a 2-1 lead at the break.
Despite conceding two goals in the space of three minutes, SFC never looked to be out of the contest. The side continued to push for an equalizer as United uncharacteristically retreated.

Although the home side forced a few excellent saves from McCarthy along with the odd scary moment at the back, it was Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men doing the advancing.

The result moves the red and white army level on points with Everton in 11th Place. The drawer may mean almost nothing to Saints’ league standings this season, but the chance to play spoiler at Old Trafford is always a supreme pleasure.

With that said here are the three key moments from Manchester United 2 Southampton 2:
