Midfielders

James Ward-Prowse, Centre-Midfielder – 7

The workhorse was back in the side once again, captaining his team with Hojbjerg in it.  It is hard to find a moment to highlight, but it was another solid performance from the leader.

Oriol Romeu, Centre-Midfielder – 5

Began the match with a typical challenge and earned his typical yellow, flipping Sonny March in the process.  Was a little slow and indecisive on the ball and had to bail himself out with a poor giveaway 30 yards out.  It was a short day for the Spaniard as he was removed at half time to give the team a little more forward punch.

Nathan Redmond, Attacking-Midfielder – 6

Hard to find anything of note in the first half, but his fitness level is incredible.  He looked the freshest player on the pitch when he picked up the ball and played positive.  Best moment of the game may have been his first time pass to Ings to assist the goal.  It was absolutely perfect and set up magical number 20, which his striker was quick to thank.  Maybe his rating is harsh, but he is judged on a higher standard than most of his teammates.

Will Smallbone, Attacking-Midfielder – 5

Took a really long time to get into the game and on the ball, and he showed some frustration because of it.  Swapped to the left side midway through the first half and partnered with his buddy Vokins.  Flashed some real skill with his delivery from a set piece and a second half cross.  Totally ran out of gas after 70 minutes and nearly cost the team the game on Bissouma’s strike, and was subbed off shortly after.
