Manager, Goalkeeper and Defenders

Ralph Hasenhuttl, Manager – 8

The little tweaks he has made to his side since the restart have shown that they could be a strong outfit in 2020/21. He has also got every single player fighting relentless for the three points on offer in every match.

Alex McCarthy, Goalkeeper – 8

Some very good saves to deny Bournemouth a way back into the game and was alert to punch, claim or sweep up when when needed. Confidence with the ball at his feet has improved tenfold in this run of Saints form.

Kyle Walker-Peters, Right-Back – 7

A great clearance on the stretch to deny Callum Wilson a tap in after on of Bournemouth’s dangerous breaks forward.

100% tackle success and plenty of the ball to confirm his status as a key player in this team.

Jannik Vestergaard, Centre-Back – 6

Did part of his job well after recording 16 clearances,14 aerial duels won and one superb block to deny Solanke, but it is clear that he was targeted by Bournemouth as the weak point of the Saints defence.

Booked for an ugly challenge near the halfway line.

Jack Stephens, Centre-Back – 7

Five aerial duels won, four successful tackles, two interceptions and four clearances, but he still had a relatively quiet and uneventful game in comparison to Vestergaard.

Ryan Bertrand, Left-Back – 7

More touches of the ball than any other Saints player. His composure at times is often overlooked, but he can then turn it on when it is needed.
