Strikers and Substitutes

Danny Ings, Striker – 7

What a surprise – a clinical finish for the game’s opener just before half-time that gave the goalkeeper no chance. But then a genuine surprise with a miss from the penalty spot.

We can probably forgive him though, let’s be honest.

Shane Long, Striker – 6

Not his best game by any means and will need to step it up if he is to start ahead of Adams next season.

Che Adams, 1st Substitute – 7

Got into some good positions after coming on and got his just rewards with a late second goal for Saints. Two goals since the restart will hopefully give him the boost he needs before next season.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, 2nd Substitute – N/A

Provided fresh legs for the final 13 minutes but only had 14 touches of the ball.

Michael Obafemi, 3rd Substitute – N/A

Set up Adams’ late goal to confirm the win but not enough time to get involved otherwise.
