A new report is saying Southampton having finalised a deal with Centre-back Mohammed Salisu for multiple years and a £35,000-a-week wage.

According to Football Insider, the club has reached a deal on a contract for the centre-back and all that is needed is approval of his work permit.

The Saints paid the release clause of the player, which was in the neighborhood of £10.9m and is widely considered a great bit of business for the club. Salisu, had a fantastic season in the Spanish La Liga and was sought after by a number of clubs.

The 21-year-old, ultimately chose to come to the Premier League and join the Saints on the South Coast. He played in 30 matches this season and is being brought in to shore up the backline and help the Saints push for European competition next season.

Although the Saints’ defense has improved over the course of the season, it was clear we needed to bring in reinforcements and make some changes. The first being at centre-back and then at right-back.

I believe this is a fantastic signing for the club and if they are able to move Vestergaard this summer they will have gotten Salisu essentially for free.

He stands at 6’3″, is left-footed, and really a pure defender. I believe he will fit in well in Ralph’s system and will make an impact on the club almost immediately. He may take sometime to adjust to the Premier League but with his experience in La Liga he already has a head start.

I am excited to see who else the Saints bring in this summer and how the club will look next season. We will keep you updated on all the transfer rumours and news we come across
