Midfielders

James Ward-Prowse, Centre-Midfielder – 9

Forming a very comfortable partnership with Romeu.  Set pieces missed their mark today, uncharacteristically.  Was excellent in keeping possession and showed consistent desire to join the attack.

Oriol Romeu, Centre-Midfielder – 8

This game was so open, Romeu even made an appearance in his opponent’s penalty area!  Plays like a professional, made a great block to save McCarthy’s mistake and another no-nonsense performance.

Nathan Redmond, Attacking-Midfielder – 9

Highly engaged from the first whistle on Southampton’s left hand side.  Played a bit too predictable, forcing the ball to his right side while defenders showed him left.  Ran the goal line with unbelievable skill in the 37th minute, but Adams wasn’t quite ready for his pass.  Drove Sheffield back with his dribbling the entire match and the opposing defenders had to be thinking how do we stop him?

Stuart Armstrong, Attacking-Midfielder – N/A

A couple lively moments on the ball before dealing with an injury in the 20th minute.  Tried to push forward, but made way after just 29 minutes of play.
