Che Adams

No prizes for guessing why Adams has made the key player list. A double will do that for you. The Striker proved to be an excellent poacher, capitalizing on both sloppy defending and a lucky bounce.

The game may mean nothing significant for league standing, but Sheffield boss Chris Wilder will doubtless feel miffed about how his side conceded the equalizer.

A massive deflection into the visitors’ half along with a ridiculous defensive turnover, saw Adams strike. After picking up possession just outside their own penalty area, the away side struggled to deal with the Southampton press and overrun the ball.  A Blade desperately tries to rescue the situation but appears to knock the ball past Danny Ings and into the path of Adams.

Goals against Manchester city and Bournemouth have recently helped to get the front man’s eye in. The number 10 coolly finished on the angle at Dean Henderson’s near post.

Since joining from Birmingham back in the summer, it’s fair to say Che’s run of luck in front of goal has not been plentiful. However, that. All changed as lady luck offered up a late dividend.

With the scores level, Kyle Walker -Peters attempts to fire one in, striking Chris Basham in the process. Unfortunately, for the 32-year-old the stinging blow knocks him to the ground. The ball finds its way to the marksman, who once again puts it past Henderson.

The double put Saints in the driving seat as they went about claiming three points.
