Southampton 3-1 Sheffield United: Premier League- Three Key Players
By Joe Mcindoe
Danny Ings
It’s fair to say that Danny Ings has made a swift start to his full Southampton career, capping the season off with strike number 22. The goal brings about a remarkable achievement.
Freelance journalist and commentator Tom Murray explains:
“Danny Ings becomes just the 8th player in the Premier League to score in at least 20 games.”
The final goal of the season came from the spot as the number nine was brought down by Oliver Norwood. The Striker would have been disappointed with last week’s limp spot kick against Bournemouth and was eager to make it right.
Not one to make the same mistake twice, Ings stepped up to confidently convert. Disappointingly, his single goal of the game wasn’t enough to share joint custody of the Golden Boot with Jamie Vardy.
Some in the faithful may be disappointed that Ing’s couldn’t secure that final notch, but it is nevertheless a tremendous start to life as a full member of the Red and White Army.
“I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling 22”.
