Southampton: Saints closing in on signing Jeremi Rodriguez
Southampton may be on the verge of signing another left-back in the form of Jeremi Rodriguez from the Spanish second league team, Las Palmas.
A new report has stated that Southampton have made a £400,000 move for a young left-back from Las Palmas. Jeremi Rodriguez, has apparently flown into England to have his physical and finish the move to the Premier League.
His contract was coming to an end and the Saints snapped up the opportunity to pick up the player on the cheap. This will add much-needed depth at the left-back position, especially if Ryan Bertrand is bought for big money this transfer window.
There is not much known about the youngster but if Ralph was able to scout him and saw what he liked there must be a reason the club brought him in to bolster the defense.
He will likely fall behind Jake Vokins on the depth chart who, if Bertrand is sold, would likely be forced into the starting role. Personally, I would like to see Bertrand see out his career with Saints. He had a fantastic season and played some of his best football in recent memory.
This transfer window will be an exciting one for Saints. They are linked to some exciting players like Salisu and Weston Mckennie. Youth seems to be the name of the game for Hasenhuttl and if he manages to snag a few more players Southampton could be a really exciting team in the years to come.
We say the success Ralph had with Leipzig and finding diamonds in the rough seems to be his specialty. Hopefully we get a few officially transfer statements from the club in the coming days.
