Match of the Season

Again, many different options come to mind. After consideration though, I am going to go with the 2-0 win away at Chelsea back on Boxing Day.

This came at a time when Saints had just started to turn the corner over the Christmas period but was by far their biggest test – away at a team that would go on to finish in the top-four.

Saints had to defend well obviously and got that bit of luck that they needed at times but worked their way to a deserved win with two spectacular goals.

Michael Obafemi’s solo run and curling finish saw the visitors to Stamford Bridge hold the lead at half time, but their advantage became even better later on when Nathan Redmond’s exquisite dink rounded off a superb team move and showed that Saints truly were back.

Saints reportedly in the hunt for Danny Welbeck. dark. Next
