Gareth Southgate has put out his team for the upcoming Nations League matches in September and it has included two Southampton men.

Supporters have been screaming for it for months now and they finally get there wish, Danny Ings in included in the England squad. Not only is Ings in the squad so is out Captain James Ward-Prowse!

It has been an exciting day for Southampton fans for sure and now they will get to see their favorite Saints put on the national team kit.

The matches will take place in September on the 5th and 8th of the month. The Three Lions will be taking on Iceland and Denmark respectively.

Ings and Ward-Prowse will play alongside the usual like Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, and Jordan Pickford but also some younger faces like Mason Greenwood, Phil Foden and Declan Rice.

The call up to the national team is the recognition Saint fans have been calling for since the New Year. Ings and Ward-Prowse were two of our better players and have worked incredibly hard for this call up.

We will see how much they feature in the two matches but I would have to suspect they will at least feature in one or the other even if it is coming off the bench.

It would be amazing to see the two play alongside each other representing their country. We already know what they are capable of but this is a prime opportunity to not only show the rest of the country but the rest of Europe what they are capable of.

Southampton will be entering this year with a new level of respect and team that shouldn’t be taken lightly.
