The Southampton target is inching closer to a move to the Italian-side Napoli as the Saints had the approaches turned down by his current club.
The striker has been linked to a number of clubs like Southampton, Wolfsburg, and Benfica but it looks like the most progress has come from Napoli.
The saints apparently made a bid for the striker but were reject by Almeria. Almeria, failed to gain promotion to La Liga and therefore the striker was looking to move to a top-flight club.
If Nunez were to be purchased by Saints it would have likely meant that Obafemi would have moved away from the club but now it appears he will be here to stay for at least the next season.
The Saints striker corps has four men as of now and that is really all you need for a squad that deploys 2 strikers. The starters this year will likely be Ings and Adams with the two Irishmen backing them up.
Southampton, will need more production from strikers not named Ings but the way Che Adams finished the season was promising. It took Adams awhile to find the back of the net but once he did he started scoring at a relatively nice clip.
I think he will continue his form into this season and may even challenge Danny Ings for the highest goal-scorer on the team.
As for Obafemi, he is still young and I think he could still develop into a solid Premier League striker. His work-rate could use some work but outside of that he has all the makings of a striker that fits the Hasenhuttl system.
