Southampton FC: Three Key Premier League Fixtures 2020-21
By Erik Franzo
Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg returns to Southampton
The Premier League obviously saw value in this match, moving kickoff for TV to Sunday September 20th 12PM BST.
A recently departing player returning always adds fuel to any fire, and some Saints fans were not too pleased with the way he left. Losing a captain to a rival EPL side is hard enough, but Hojbjerg’s forced exit with a year left on his contract resulted in a residual taste of stale Carlsberg.
Remember that line Southampton supporters. That is what a player tries to tell their brain before a match, but I guarantee there will be some errant Pierre passes, like usual, which we will all relish in.
Too bad fans can’t be pitchside to let him hear it! Regardless, this quote from a psychologist’s perspective is the ego protecting the id. Hojbjerg will not be himself this match and we all want to see it.
While the Danish CM is a substitute escaping Birmingham 1-0 and figuring out whether his travel plans include trips to Lokomotiv Poldiv, Southampton are smashing Swansea 7-1. We will see who gets the first laugh in just three short weeks. Yes, we wish former players the best, but not always right away.
