Southampton: Club interested in Florentino Luis as Hojbjerg replacement
It has been a frustrating start to the season for Southampton and the need for a new CM is more urgent than ever as they need to turn around their season.
Southampton have started the season with 3 straight losses and Hasenhuttl has made it very clear he would like to purchase new players and soon. According to the Sun, the club now have made 21-year-old midfielder Florentino Luis as their new target.
The Benfica player has a number of clubs scouting him and the Saints have entered the race for the youngster. He is highly touted as one of the most promising talents and with how poor Southampton have been it is time they make a move.
The Saints will face competition from Fulham and also Milan for the player. It is time the club finally signs a top-target if they hope to compete and have a successful season.
Oriol Romeu is no longer getting the job done in the middle of the park and with the defense trying to play a new high-line they need a player who can collect the ball from them and bring it up the field to launch the attack.
Although they lost 5-2 to Spurs on Sunday, the performance was better than the one they turned in against Palace and Brentford. The now turn to Burnley and West Brom for their next two matches looking to turn around the season.
If the club manages victories in both of their upcoming matches I think a lot will be forgiven and it will feel like a reset on the season. It was a shortened pre-season with limited friendlies so hopefully, that is the explanation for the sloppy start.
I still have faith in this team although I do think they need to sign Luis and think about letting Salisu start before originally planned.
