The goalkeeper is currently the odd man out at Southampton and a loan deal would make sense for him to ensure he continues to develop.
In a report from Football Insider, the newly promoted club has maintained interest in the shot-stopper and are now confident they will be able to bring him in before the transfer window closes in a couple weeks.
Gunn, is currently third in the pecking order at Saints behind the likes of McCarthy and Fraser Forster. He has not played too much first team football since that match against Leicester last season.
This feels like it would be the right move for all parties involved. The 24-year-old is at a pivotal point in his career and can ill afford to spend it behind two other keepers. For Southampton, if they see a future with Gunn in net he needs to take the next step and why not let him do that at another club?
According to the report, the Saints are keen on getting Gunn to a club where he will be getting to play a lot of football and be the number one choice goalkeeper.
Leeds, have been a little shaky at the back conceding 7 goals in the first two matches so getting a goalkeeper with something to prove may be just the thing to shore up the defense.
I believe with a few weeks left in the transfer window, Southampton will get a few more bits of business done.
Likely, they will be shipping off Hoedt and Gunn but there is also hope they will sign another player or two. If that happens they can then start to focus on turning around their season and forgetting about the terrible start they had.
