Ruben Loftus-Cheek

The Athletic have confirmed that Saints want to bring in Loftus-Cheek on a season-long loan deal despite many other clubs currently tracking his situation.

Although they claim that wages may cause a slight issue, the England international could become available this summer given that he has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

Whether he would prove to be a good fit in Saints’ system is another question. His style is more attacking than the likes of James Ward-Prowse and Oriol Romeu in the 4-2-2-2 formation.

However, Loftus-Cheek’s proven goal threat and physicality would certainly add something to the ranks at St Mary’s.
