According to renowned football reporter Fabrizio Romano, Saints have reached an agreement with Lazio for Hoedt to join them on an initial loan deal with an option to buy next summer.

After falling out of favour at St Mary’s and taking loan spells in Spain and Belgium, the Netherlands international will now get a chance to impress back at his former club in Rome.

The final parts of this deal have reportedly been held up recently though. Reports from Italy – via Sports Witness – have suggested that Hoedt’s medical has been cancelled twice.

However, personal terms and a 6 million euro option to buy next summer are said to have been agreed and the deal is still expected to go through.
