The window for England-only transfers closes this week and Southampton are apparently interested in getting Troy Deeney from relegated Watford.

According to the Mirror, Southampton are now interested in signing the striker from Watford. They will apparently face competition from West Ham, Brighton and West Brom for the talents of Troy Deeney.

The Englishman is a proven Premier League striker but I just do not see Southampton being seriously in for the player when they already have 4 strikers who routinely make the first team on matchday.

The striker did have 10 goals last season but he is just not what the club need right now. He would likely not take any playtime away from both Ings and Adams. He is also now 32-years-of-age and is not the type of player Ralph is not keen to bring in (Walcott being the exception).

In my opinion, I do not think any more moves will be made this transfer window and if the club does anymore business this season it will happen in January, obviously.

Next. Three players Saints secretly wanted in the transfer window. dark

Che Adams is off to another slow start this season but I think he will find a goal here soon and his tally will start to grow. That will likely settle any questions the Saints have about where else goals will come from other than Danny Ings.

But hey, crazier things have happened and it is very possible we could see Deeney make the move to the South Coast. I would not hate it if he only costs a few million and his wage bill is not outrageous.
