Adams/Ings partnership key again

It is clear that, given more time, Saints will have a very good strike partnership on their hands.

Che Adams has already shown us just how well he can work for the team’s cause this season and provided the assist for Danny Ings’ goal at Burnley earlier this season.

At Stamford Bridge, it was him again who set up his fellow striker with a defence-splitting pass that put Ings through one-on-one with Kepa and allowed him to finish simply after rounding the goalkeeper.

Then in the second-half Adams took full advantage of a mistake from the Chelsea shot-stopper to draw Saints level at a crucial time and net his first goal of 2020/21.

Given his finishing instincts, Ings may well score the most goals of the two this season. However, don’t be surprised if Adams reached double figures for assists.
