Midfielders

James Ward-Prowse, Centre-Mid – 8

Two moments of great cover in the first half you want to show every youth player.  If there was a small critique, he needed to do more when driving the ball forward, but who is complaining with the captain leading his team to another win!

Oriol Romeu, Centre-Mid – 9

Took a knock right at the first whistle, but it did not slow him.  Was quick to press Newcastle midfielders and created a good chance for Walcott 13 minutes in.  An absolute force through the first 25 minutes before picking up a yellow to stop a counter.  Nearly scored with a brilliant strike if not for the fingertips of Darlow.  Just an all-around massive performance for the Spaniard.

Stuart Armstrong, Attacking-Mid – 8

Really drove the team forward off the dribble in the first half.  Should have been more aggressive on a few occasions, taking a chance himself, instead he missed his mark in setting up Walcott more than once.  Although, he did take his best chance and deposited in the back of the net with some quick footwork after winning the ball back and flashing the left foot he is so confident with.

Moussa Djenepo, Attacking-Mid  – 8

First big act was blocking a Saint-Maximin drive toward goal.  Looked heavy-legged, but was so creative in the attacking third.  Would have loved to see more crosses into the box, but did very well supporting Stephens in defence on the left side.
