Southampton 2 (top of the league) Newcastle 0 The Moment We Won the League

The league is ours; we’ve won! Bring out the trophy and prepare the champagne. Southampton are your 2020 2021 champi…. What’s that you say? What do you mean there’s 30 more games to play?

All jokes aside Che Adams’ opener will live long in the memory of ecstatic fans. The goal comes as a result of the Hampshire side’s strong pressing game. Adams initially forces a quality save out of Darlow, who appears to push the ball to safety.

Miguel Almirón picks up possession just outside of the area, but appears to dawdle on the ball. The Paraguayan soon runs into the pair of Walcott and Kyle Walker Peters.

The right back poked the ball away, which in turn set Walcott off. The attacker bears down on goal, before passing the ball off to Adams who fires into the net. The seventh minute strike sees the former Birmingham city man gain his third notch of the season.

The goal provided Southampton the foundation for a defensively solid professional performance. The hosts looked a regular threat while offering very little at the back.
