Southampton enter the International Break coming off successive victories and the latest comes over Newcastle without Danny Ings.

With the Southampton victory on Friday it shot them to the top of the league where they stood until Sunday but remain in the top four going into this break.

The Saints would not find themselves in this position without some high-quality play from a number of players so let us take a look at the five best right now.

Last week’s top-5 was Jannik Vestergaard, Che Adams, Oriol Romeu, James Ward-Prowse, and Danny Ings. Just to note Danny Ings has been dropped from the top 5 because of his injury.

Stuart Armstrong – Last Week Rank: Not Ranked

Stu has once against shown he is a key cog in the Hasenhuttl machine and really makes things tick. He did not necessarily have his best performance on Friday but he still ended up with a goal and reminded fans why they love him.

We cringe every time he goes on national team duty because we know how valuable he is to this team and we really hope he can come back healthy from this trip. I expect Stu to have even better performances to come
