The Southampton centre-back recently spoke with the media and said it is natural of him to want to take responsibility for club and country.

According to the Daily Mail, Vestergaard admitted he would be proud to be captain for either Southampton or Denmark. The Dane said is natural for him to take responsibility and he had thoroughly enjoyed his time as the captain of the U21 Denmark when he was playing at that level.

Vestergaard, is a man playing with a lot of confidence and he recognizes he is playing well right now.

Just a few months ago Saints fans would have likely been happy if he was sold but now they have all reversed course on the giant defender.

He has yet to taste defeat in the Premier League this season and hopefully that streak continues on Monday when the Saints take on Wolves on Monday Night Football.

Ralph Hasenhuttl is going to have some tough decisions to make when Mohamed Salisu is finally fit for action.

I do not think he will change his system to fit three centre-backs so only two will get to play between Vestergaard, Bednarek, and Salisu.

Next. Ings could return to action for Saints ahead of schedule. dark

Personally, I believe we will see a combination of Vestergaard and Salisu but it would not shock me if it were Bednarek with Salisu. I have to imagine there is not a scenario where Salisu does not play.

Ralph would not have bought Salisu if he did not intend on playing him so it will be bad news for someone once he is fit.
