Midfielders

Oriol Romeu, Central-Midfielder – 6

Less dominant in the middle purely because Wolves bypassed central areas very well.

James Ward-Prowse, Central-Midfielder – 6

Like Romeu, quieter than usual and did not get chance to push forward as he can do.

Stuart Armstrong, Attacking-Midfielder – 7

Not his best game in all but his movement around the Saints frontline did pose Wolves a few questions. Almost opened the scoring with an effort that rolled agonisingly wide.

Moussa Djenepo, Attacking-Midfielder – 7

A very valuable defensive effort in trying to disrupt Adama Traore – he attempted nine tackles in all and the most of any Saints player on the night.

We’ll see the best of the Malian when he isn’t having to keep too much of an eye on his defensive duties, but he did play a massive part in the build-up to Walcott’s goal.
