Wolves vs Southampton: A tactical analysis of an intense draw
By Marc Walker
Saints’ development on the ball is clear
In the first-half, Saints enjoyed the majority of possession and they played with a real swagger at times.
On multiple occasions, they played out from the back and passed their way forwards – bypassing the Wolves press with relative ease.
Take a look at the clip above. It shows a flowing move with Jan Bednarek initiating the attack in a midfield position, Romeu snaps a pass to Che Adams who has dropped deep and Stuart Armstrong almost rounds off a brilliant move with a cute finish.
Saints have developed under their current manager in so many ways but their use of the ball is one of the components that makes them so good at the moment.
