James Ward Prowse Kicks Saints on

The captain has long been hailed as a set piece specialist. He has always been good in this area, but his form in recent months appears to have taken him to the next level.

Prowse recently impressed with the free kick double against Aston Villa. The midfielder once again wowed with his pinpoint accuracy against the Devils.

The Hampshire side gained a free kick on an angle just outside the penalty area. JWP stepped up to put the ball over the wall and just inside the keeper’s right-hand post.

David de Gea got a hand to the shot but couldn’t keep it out. To make matters worse the Spaniard was injured in the attempt.

With just over half an hour played Southampton had looked to be in a strong position despite a sluggish start to the match.

The number nine can take pride in his ninth set piece strike of his Premier League career. It’s just a shame his side doesn’t have the points to show for it.
