It has been a few weeks since we last took a look at Southampton’s top 5 players so let us take a look at how the rankings have shaken up.

Just as a recap the rankings last time, from 5 to 1, were Stuart Armstrong, Che Adams, Jannik Vestergaard, James Ward-Prowse, and Oriol Romeu.

Since the last time, these rankings have come out the Saints had a draw with the Wolves and a loss to Manchester United. They will look to bounce back and collect a win against Brighton and these 5 players will likely be key players in the match.

Number 5

Alex McCarthy – Previous Rank: NR

The goalkeeper makes his first appearance in the Saints’ top 5 players and it is well deserved. His shot-stopping has been impeccable and other than a bad pass against United he has looked a lot more comfortable with the ball at his feet.

He has improved greatly and really put to rest any questions of Forster coming back and taking his starting position. He has single-handily kept Saints in some matches and Ralph should be proud of how he has developed.

I think he will collect another clean sheet on Monday and I cannot wait to see how many he gets this season.
