2013/14

Dani Osvaldo (£13m from Roma) – 2/10

Saints brought in Osvaldo to try and add some star quality and take them to the next level.

However, he obviously thought he was bigger than the club and planted a headbutt on captain Jose Fonte in training – he was sent out on loan five months after arriving as a result.

Gets a two out of ten because of that goal against Manchester City, but that’s it.

Victor Wanyama (£13m from Celtic) – 8/10

Signed to provide some much-needed physicality and an ability to win the ball back in the centre of midfield, and that is just what he did.

Had discipline issues in his last season with Saints but consistently performed at a high level in his 97 games whilst at St Mary’s. One of many successful buys from Celtic over the years.

Dejan Lovren (£9m from Lyon) – 7/10

As a signing, he was very good for Saints and added some stability to the defence for that second season back in the Premier League. His £22m move to Liverpool gave Saints a £13m profit on his original transfer to England.

However, the way he went about forcing a move away from the club after just one season will forever be what he is remembered for by supporters.
