Southampton are full steam ahead going into the festive fixtures and are looking to come out of the other side still in the top five.

From now until the end of the month the Saints will have 5 matches in the Premier League. One of those will be against Manchester City and two others against struggling Fulham and Sheffield United.

It is going to be a real test for the Saints over the remainder of the month and when they come out on the other side I think we will have a good idea of what they are capable of the rest of the season.

So let us go match-by-match and see where the Saints can grab some points.

13 December

Southampton vs Sheffield United

Sheffield will enter this match with a single point on the season and sitting in 20th. Southampton will be somewhere in the top half after matches are played on Friday and Saturday but will have a chance to retain their top 5 spot.

With that said, the Saints cannot come into this match thinking they can just show up and get the points. Sheffield know they are in a bad position and are going to start fighting for their lives and go for every point they can get.

The key for Southampton will be to come out of the gates like a bat out of hell and do not let Sheffield settle into the match. If the Saints can score 1 or 2 early goals that may take the Blades out of it mentally and the Saints should be able to come away with all three points.

Predicted Score

Southampton 3-1 Sheffield United
