Midfielders

James Ward-Prowse, Centre-Midfielder – 9

His pressing is becoming so pleasurable to watch.  The timing and tackling are artwork and JWP is a master of his craft.  His set piece delivery was consistently dangerous, but maybe a hair off his high standards.  Vestergaard does owe him one after hitting his big target three different times inside 12 yards.

Oriol Romeu, Centre-Midfielder – 9

Excellent in possession as always, although a fish out of water with the high position he was afforded in the first half.  Not sure he put a foot wrong as the centre-midfield stalwart.  Added an assist before being subbed off, and did take a knock before his exit worth noting.

Stuart Armstrong, Attacking-Midfielder – 9

Flat out missed the first opportunity of the match when JWP picked him out perfectly from a designed corner.  Had a couple nice driving runs at the heart of the Sheffield defense, with most creation coming from line-breaking passes.  His goal may have taken a deflection, but if you go back and watch, it was finding the bottom right corner before going in the left.

Theo Walcott, Attacking-Midfielder – 9

Dynamic when he picked up the ball around midfield, but lacks a hint of confidence when showing for the ball in scoring position.  Probably could have scored once or twice had he created better angles for his teammates, but has to be loving his transfer decision as he plays ahead of healthy Redmond and Djenepo at the moment.
