Southampton vs Sheffield United: Three Key Moments in Saints’ win

Southampton ease past Sheffield United 3-0. Goals from Che Adams, Stuart Armstrong, and Nathan Redmond sealed the deal on a dominant Saints performance.

The result sees the Hampshire side moved to fourth place in the Premier League and 23 points. The Yorkshire outfit, meanwhile, sit rock bottom of the division on one point.

The disparity between the two clubs showed from the off with Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men dominating possession, and posing virtually all the attacking threat. Despite holding the line in the initial stages, the Blades’ resistance was breached just after the half an hour mark.

Adams opened the scoring and his team never looked back. Defensively, the hosts were untroubled as they confidently shut down a beleaguered opposition front line. United occasionally threatened most notably missing the target from a well-placed corner, but ultimately failed to muster a single shot on target.

Oriol Romeu proved to be a standout figure as he controlled the midfield. Romeu fought hard to win his battles and made life difficult for the bottom side. The backline were impressive and looked relatively unburdened even as their opponents applied slight pressure.

Alex McCarthy was allowed a very quiet afternoon, and barely had a shot to save. Only a cross turned shot even vaguely tested the keeper.
