Adams Fires Saints In Front

Che Adams has started the campaign well. The striker had netted three goals in his last 11 appearances, before the day’s action.

The once Sheffield United man continued his positive start with a goal against his former employers.

Adams’ latest notch is a result of strong positional play. James Ward Prowse delivers a free kick into the box. It is initially rebuffed by a Sheffield head. Unfortunately, for the travellers the header went up but not away.

This allows Jan Bednarek to compete for the ball in the air. The centre back can’t connect cleanly, but gets a lucky break as the ball deflects off his shoulder and into the path of Adams. The number 10 pushes the ball past a slow to react defender and into the back of the net.

With his fourth goal of the season the Englishman has now equalled last season’s goal tally, in just 12 appearances. The front man managed the same number in 30 games last term.
