Southampton vs Sheffield United: Three Key Moments in Saints’ win
By Joe Mcindoe
Redmond seals the deal
Stuart Armstrong put Southampton in a commanding two goal lead just after the hour mark. The Scot received a massive slice of luck as his shot took a big deflection off Phil Jagielka and beat a helpless Aaron Ramsdale.
As fans will be all too well aware, a two-goal lead has in the past not always been good enough to take all three points. On this occasion though the hosts would continue to press their advantage and look to put the cap on the afternoon.
Nathan Redmond arrived on the scene as an 80th minute substitute for the industrious Theo Walcott. The number 11 was quick to leave his mark on proceedings.
A little over two minutes after coming off the bench Redmond had bagged his first goal of the 2020-2021 competition. Romeu rounded off an impressive day at the office, playing an integral part in the final goal.
The Spaniard spots an excellent pass into the box, which splits the defence and allows Redmond to latch onto it. The attacker takes control and coolly finishes past Ramsdale.
