More Misfortune for Ings

Danny Ings has had a rough time of late having just returned from knee surgery.

The striker scored upon his return against Brighton just a few weeks ago. Sadly for the number nine he may have to suffer yet more time on the sidelines following a suspected hamstring injury.

Ings walked off the pitch under his own steam, but fans will be concerned given his injury riddled career.

NBC sport reporter Joe Prince-Wright said of the injury: “Ings, 28, went down clutching his left knee just before half time in Saints’ clash with Manchester City at St Mary’s on Saturday, and he came straight off, as it looked like a left hamstring problem.”

Quoted in the same article the Saints boss admitted to some misgivings about starting him in this latest tie. The Austrian explained: “I spoke to [Danny Ings] him before the game and let him take the risk of playing from the beginning after a long injury. I was really thinking about leaving him out today if it wasn’t Man City I wouldn’t have done it [started him]. Now you do it and you get the pill for it.”

The attacker is one of the best strikers in the Premier League and his side missed that extra class upfront.
