Southampton: Power Ranking Saints Top 5 Players Pt. 6
It has been a busy week for Southampton as they have taken on three matches in a span of a week and managed to pick up 4 important points.
The last update to our Southampton power rankings came 2 weeks ago so we have had some movement in our top 5. Danny Ings has returned but has he cracked the top 5 again or has James Ward-Prowse managed to keep the number 1 spot?
This season has been highlighted by brilliant team play and you could make an argument for any player to be on this list but there can only be 5.
Last time the list consisted of Alex McCarthy, Stuart Armstrong, Che Adams, Oriol Romeu, and James Ward-Prowse.
Let us take a look how the top 5 have changed.
Number 5
Alex McCarthy – Previous Rank: 5 (0)
The goalkeeper maintains his position in the top 5 and has been solid this whole season. His shot-stopping has been top-notch and distribution has vastly improved since last season. He stays in the Top 5 because he has been so constant with his performances.
Most of the goals he has conceded this year have been because they were placed where he simply could not get to them. I cannot think of many this season that I said to myself “McCarthy should have done better there.”
I do not think we will here any talks of Forster taking McCarthy’s spot anytime soon.
