Strikers and Substitutes

Che Adams, Striker – 6

Slowed a couple of early attacks with indecision and running offsides when Theo Walcott could have slid him through.  Thought he had a tap in, but a wicked spin on the ball wrong-footed him.  Really was absent in hold up play and other than the would-be assist he never really made an impact.

Shane Long, Striker – 6

We saw why he was chosen with Southampton choosing to go long and direct early.  Ran into offsides position too often, but it wasn’t always his fault.  Scored a goal, but should have stayed onside before the finish, and there are no excuses with the defender in his sight.  Brought the team up the field a few times winning the ball out of the air and winning fouls and will take his slack from the Southampton faithful as usual.

Dan N’Lundulu, Substitute Striker – N/A

Came in for stoppage time as Southampton’s first sub.

Moussa Djenepo, Substitute Attacking-Midfielder – N/A

Entered in the 93rd minute to slow the game.

Next. Saints interested in defender Jorge Fernandes. dark
