Demarai Gray

According to Portuguese news outlet Record (via Sports Witness), Saints are moving ahead of Benfica in the race to sign Gray from Leicester City.

The 24-year-old’s contract with the Foxes expires in the summer and there is little chance of him signing an extension given that he has made just two senior appearances this season.

It could be that Saints bring in Gray on a loan deal until the end of the season to bolster their options in wide areas and give him a chance to impress before he becomes a free agent.

Saints let Cedric and Maya Yoshida go on similar deals in the last winter transfer window and brought in Kyle Walker-Peters from Spurs to prove his worth.
