Yan Valery made his first appearance of the season on Monday for Southampton but it may be his last as he could go out on loan this month.

The right-back has struggled to get back in the side ever since the arrival of Kyle Walker-Peters at Southampton and now could be loaned out to get him some first-team football.

According to a report, the club has offered Schalke the player on loan with an opportunity to buy after the loan.

Schalke, have struggled mightily this season and are looking to bring in reinforcements this month to help them avoid relegation. Yan is capable of playing a number of positions and he does have the talent to help a club out like Schalke.

I would not be surprised if this move goes through because it does not seem Ralph is too keen on Valery.

With that said, it will leave the Saints with only one Right-back and they will really need to bring in another for the rest of the season.  They have been linked with Manchester United’s Brandon Williams but that move is looking less and less likely.

January is always an interesting time and I think Southampton will be more active in the window than we originally thought because they are now in a position to fight for a Europa League spot.

I do not think the club will sell many players outside of Valery and possibly Obafemi. There may be some teams that ask about players like Vestergaard and Ings but I think they club can fend off those offers this time around.
